Discord FAQ

Pre Guide Tips:

Don't buy gold or power leveling, they scam you with their prices and you risk your account for something that is really easy to get.
Join a guild for leveling faster, but ditch that shit after you cap since they're all cesspools for degenerates.
Don't buy gold guides or guides of any kind, they're all shit and offer no real help over anything free.

Install spam blocking addons:

Slowly start to keybind your abilities during leveling so you don't get shocked at lvl 100.
Start by keybinding the abilities you use every single mobkill to keys near wasd, don't be afraid to unbind shit you never use, I personally like 'qertvfgcxzs1234' with 'shift' and 'ctrl' modifiers.

Change the 'A' and 'D' key from 'turn left / right' to  'strafe left / right'. Also unbind the 'S' key. Friends don't let friends keyboard turn or backpedal.

>DO OTHER BLIZZ SUBREDDITS HAVE DISCORDS LIKE THIS ONE?

Yes! These are the ones that currently exist:

Patch Notes Here
Wowhead is a database on everything WoW. Find items, get help with quests, whatever you need, it's here.

>I'M NEW WHAT IS THIS?

This guide on the website should cover all facets of this question!

>WHAT SERVER DO I PLAY?

Avoid "New player" server's they are a trap and are mostly dead with no good guilds on them
Use RealmPop to look for faction balance / population
Use WoWProgress to look for servers with good raiding guilds

>WHAT RACE DO I PLAY?

Play whatever you want as unless you're sitting at Rank 1, min maxing through races make no difference!

>WHAT CLASS DO I PLAY?

Legion Class Previews

Besides that, play whatever you feel like. Just try a class out for a bit and if you like the rotation of the class, play it.
Don't listen to anyone's suggestions on this, it should be whatever feels good to you.

>WHAT ADDONS/UI SHOULD I USE?

UI is all personal but just keep it clean and don't overload on things you don't use.

This post categorizes some of the best addons you can get and I highly recommend checking it out!

Mouse hover delete items:

Mouseover macro for healers

#showtooltip Spell Name
/use [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Spell Name

>WHAT PROFESSIONS DO I USE?

Every profession is great at making gold. Gathering professions are very tedious and won't net much in WoD but are a great investment for Legion. Don't fuck with professions if you aren't max level and sitting on a comfortable amount of gold (5k+)

>HOW DO I LEVEL FAST?

Just enjoy the game for the first time you won't get the same leveling feeling ever again, go explore anything that looks interesting and have fun!

Not your first rodeo? Good me neither! With 15 100s, I have a very peculiar way of leveling to 100.

  1. Get to 15.

I usually only level Alliance so I grind to 5 in the Human start zone, then travel here  and grind the murlocs to 10 or 12. Move to Westfall and either grind the coast or Deadmines to 15.

  2. Spam dungeons 15-80

Make sure at the gap between expansions, you're specific queueing for stuff you haven't done yet before it becomes too low to do. Quest XP is best XP.

Also test the Heroic queue times as those can be very short and offer amazing XP along with quests that you haven't done without taking away the next expansions dungeons too quickly.

If you enjoy Wrath, I highly suggest questing while spamming dungeons.

  3. At 80, travel to any Cata zone and quest while doing Dungeons.

Cata doesn't have enough dungeons to supplement you with enough XP to hit 85 so add some questing in with it unless you want to push through several DGs without any quests. It should take almost 1 zone, preferably Hyjal as its pretty fun IMO.

  4. Once 85, continue the old method and quest through Jade Forest while queueing for dungeons only for quests. Should take you 70% of Jade Forrest to ding 90 or all of Jade Forrest if you chose to just quest.

  5. At 90, things change based on where you stand this expansion on your main. If you aren't full BoA, you'll have to do all the zones. If you're full BoA, you should start off by doing the intro, do all of the faction's starting zone (Frostfire Ridge as Horde, Shadowmoon Valley as Alliance), do Gorgrond until you hit 96/97, skip Talador and go straight to Spires. Get the bonus XP buff in spires and make sure you do the bonus objectives there as well as collecting as many treasures and by the time you finish you should be 100.

If you can fly, you can also supplement yourself by flying around and collecting treasures. Once you hit 98, you can collect all of Nagrand and Spires in about 3 or 4 hours and ding 100 just from that.

>HOW DO I GET GOOD AT RAIDING/PVE?

BEFORE YOU TRY TO GET INTO RAIDING, REMEMBER THIS; DON'T FUCKING GIVE UP. SO MANY PEOPLE GIVE UP AFTER THEY FAIL THEIR FIRST GUILD APPLICATION AND GIVE UP. DON'T. FUCKING. GIVE. UP. KEEP GOING. YOU WILL GET THAT FUCKING RAID SPOT NO MATTER IF THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. KEEP GOING AND THE GRIND PAYS OFF, KEEP PUGGING, KEEP GRINDING THOSE ILVL AND GETTING THAT ROTATION OR BOSS MECHANIC DOWN.

WoWProgress has loads of info on what guilds are good on your server so you can start looking into joining them.

AskMrRobot can help out a ton too with planning gear drops, upgrades, enchants, ect. on your character!

Icyveins has a great general overview for classes, but the specific, indepth sites for theorycrafters will always be the most recent.
Priest
Rogue
Mage
Holy Paladin
Mist Weaver
Druid

Go familiarize yourself with WarcraftLogs as it will be your home away from home. Download the parser and upload an instance of a boss fight where you did really good (a parse) so you can add it to your applications.

Climb the guild ladder by being good. Make raid leaders want you by volunteering for mechanics, knowing the boss fights and your class inside out,  by being reliable in the raid and someone people can count on to always give their best all the time. Do these things and you'll be #1 in no time!

If your guild stops progressing or isn't doing anything you signed up for, you should leave it. There's no reason to stick around if you aren't happy with the way they're handling things

>HOW DO I GET GOOD AT PVP?

Arena Junkies is a great place to start with guides on every class / spec.

If you're looking for something quick, Battle Helper is very good as well.
